From Elm City, North Carolina, Jacob Sheffield is our guitar player and lead singer and is the younger of the two brothers. He and Josiah really round out the group with their pure “brother harmony.” Jacob is an accomplished musician on several instruments, including guitar, mandolin, and bass, and is one of the finest lead and tenor voices in the music today.
He and Josiah studied under Jan Johansson of Cary, North Carolina, where they gained a firm grounding in the traditional sound of Bluegrass and developed a strong passion for music. Some of his biggest influences include Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Bobby Osborne, Paul Brewster, and Buddy Emmons.
When not on the road, Jacob gives music lessons to a select number of individual students.
