“Born and raised in England, Geary grew up playing bluegrass and old time music in his 5 piece family band, ‘The Allen Family’. He began being taught guitar by his father from an early age and models his flat picking guitar style on that of Doc Watson. Geary’s deep appreciation for traditional American music comes through in his playing, whether it be picking fiddle tunes or singing country ballads.
Geary’s vocal style is heavily influenced by the legendary singers of American country music such as Hank Williams and Lester Flatt. In recent years he has developed a passion for songwriting, especially in crafting songs that have a specifically vintage style and feel. As well as a passion for bluegrass music, Geary is a student of jazz guitarists such as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian. This influence peeks through in his playing, especially on numbers with a swing feel.
